Dr. Lovett currently serves as the Superintendent of Schools for Independent School District No. 624. He holds a B.A. degree from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota. As an undergraduate, he also studied at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan. Prior to joining White Bear Lake Area Schools, Dr. Lovett served as Assistant Superintendent for Minnetonka Public Schools, and prior to that as an administrator in Intermediate School District 917 (Rosemount), the State Department of Education, and the Forest Lake and Hopkins districts in Minnesota. In addition to his work in public education, He is an adjunct instructor at the University of Minnesota, teaching at the graduate school level in the licensure program for school administrators.
